Plenty of people on deviantART seem to have original characters and this contest is for you! Enter your character or super-team and one lucky winner will have their character(s) guest star in an upcoming issue of Argo 5. You will retain your copyright to the character(s) (actually enforce it as it will be in a dated print publication) and your name as the copyright holder will appear in the indicia on the inside front cover of the comic. You retain all rights and ownership of your character(s).
How does the contest work:
Round 1) Create or choose a previous deviantART entry in your gallery along with a description of personality and abilities of the character(s).
Round 2) Message us a link to your entry and we will create an entry in the "Get Published Contest" folder. <Deadline: August 1, 2012>
Feel free to campaign or have others do so in the thread of your entry as consumer opinion can possibly come into play for Round 3.
Round 3) Fifteen finalist will be chosen by a panel of judges. A top 5 will be determined by the judges and the other 10 will go head to head in a deviantART poll to determine a 6th finalist. <Deadline for voting: September 15, 2012>
Round 4) The Argo Comics staff (seperate from the judging panel) will vote on the ultimate winner!
THIS IS NOT AN ART CONTEST. You are not required to draw your character or create new art. As long as it is your original character, it can be a past commission from another artist. Judges will be instructed to judge primarily on the character rather than the art as the artist will most likely not be drawing the issue.
We can not accept entries with story or plot ideas as we can not be held responsible for us publishing stories similar to your ideas in the future. One entry per Deviant ID so just pick the one you might feel best fits in with the characters and flavor of Argo 5 ( issues available here:
[link] ). Creator teams (maximum 3 people) can have one entry per each different deviantART ID. Again, entries will appear in the "Get Published Contest" folder and not in the"Featured" gallery to avoid ownership confusion to viewers of the gallery.
By participating, entries acknowledge the following: The creative team and production of this issue of Argo 5 will be determined by Argo Comics. Winning creator(s) can apply to take part in the creation of the issue (writers, artists, colorist) but editorial control remains with Argo Comics. Argo Comics retains all rights to the issue and to reprint the issue in trade, digital and all formats. The issue will be available through Indy Planet and the winner will recieve 5 complimentary copies. No further remuneration is required from participation in the contest and in publication.
We look forward to seeing your masked men of mystery, your wonderous women, your amazing heroes, your team-supremes, your... creations!
